The Fence
John has been putting together the fence that will sit on the stone walls around the courtyard. The fence will be painted to match the house and the posts will be capped.
Here is an elevation of the lanscape plan showing the fence.

We received the pickets as a Christmas present from John's parents, they were made to specification in Maine. The pickets style is called "lollypop" and is only found in Chester County. The fence is 26 inches high with the pickets at 24 inches.

John has made a jig to built the fence sections. Once the jig was built he was able to knock out the sections in less than a day. I worked out the spacing and number of pickets required for each of the 17 sections of fence.

When the stone walls were built we had re-bar installed at the post locations. This allows the posts to sit on the center of the wall, John is drilling the posts to slide down over the re-bar. The posts are 4 x 4 and John has made a jig to drill out the mortises in the posts, he is finishing these up today. John installed a couple of sections yesterday and they look fabulous.
