Carrie's Weekend

Carrie's friend Jason came down from Cornell for the weekend.

They went into Philadelphia for the day on Saturday. They went to the Philadelphia Zoo then to see the Liberty Bell. Dinner at the Hardrock Cafe and on to the Philly's game.

He seems like a nice kid, with one major flaw, he's a Yankees Fan

Note: 'Yankees' and 'Fan' are separate links.

John and Nancy's Weekend

Typical, John on his tractor mowing and I mucked pond algae.

While I was mucking a sick fox came and stood about eight feet from me and wouldn't budge. He came around several times during the day acting strangely. He is very thin and his gait is off. Mange or Rabies??

We had a nice evening last night with Vince and Denise, we had dinner up at the pool.

Polly's Weekend

Polly went sailing with her friend Gabrielle and her parents, Vince and Denise, on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and by all reports they had a great time. I'm hoping Gabrielle took some pictures to post here. Polly forgot her camera.

Polly's classmate Ransom had a pool party for the class on Friday. I swiped this picture from Gabrielle's website

Great Minds Think Alike

Carrie arrived at camp this year with her brand new Vera Bradley pocketbook. It turns out Grammy has the same pocketbook. A few days later KC arrived and what do you know, the identical Vera Bradley pocketbook.

I wish I had thought to get a picture of all three.

Construction Update

The roof is done. Most of the windows are in ( three had to be reordered ).
The front door is installed ( Ken Hakin the guy who made this door did it in 4 days) Amazing, he did a beautiful job. Very rough framing for the pantry.

Everything looks great, we are really pleased.

Grateful Dead

Carrie and her friend Jason went to see to the Grateful Dead in New Jersey last week.
Apparently it was raining for part of the show, but the Deadheads' didn't seem to mind.
Jason is Carrie's friend from Cornell. He is studing Industrial Engineering and Business there.

Update on projects at Braefield Farm

The roof on the addition is partially complete. Roofers have been held up by rain.

The painting of the Tenant House (Jim and Margaret) is also on hold because of rain.

It was quite a sight watching John, Jimmy, and Polly all mowing the large pasture together today with the tractor and two riding mowers.

John and Polly also worked on the fences Saturday and Sunday.
Unfortunately it starting to look as if we will need to replace the fence line along the drive as most of the posts and boards are in bad shape.

Waialua

"The 1899 Waialua has remained in the Evans family ever since John J. Evans purchased it in 1916. Five generations have now enjoyed the Squam "camp", located opposite Kent Island"

Quote from "Squam" by Rachel Carley

Waialua is Hawaiian for Sweet Water.

The Eagle has Landed

Well, not really, but I was lucky to get a picture of this eagle as he flew by the dock at Squam with a fish in his talons and a seagull on his tail.
