Hot Air Balloon

Margaret sent me these pictures a couple of weeks ago of a hot air balloon landing on our back field. I think this is the third time they have landed here to pack up the balloon.

Rain

We have finally had some rain. As far as I can recall, it's only rained once since late July. As you can see from the pictures the pond level was very low and the grass still brown. The first picture was taken Friday before the rain and the second on Saturday. My guess is that the pond level will slowly drop as the ground water is recharged.

The New Fence

I wrote about the new fence John installed in early September, the fence was painted last Wednesday and looks fabulous. One section of the stone wall needs to be lowered before the entire fence can be installed.

The posts on the porches and the back door were also painted, it really is starting to look civilized around here. Next, two new trees will be delivered next week so John can help me plant them on his trip home. Planting the grass and ivy around the fence and moving the perennials into the courtyard gardens will be the last step.

Note the grass in the courtyard. John thinks the grass looks lumpy in these pictures, but I've assured him it's really not.
